Vote Center Locations Needed

Do you have a facility that could serve as a vote center?

  • Voting locations have been as varied as churches, community centers, private businesses, and schools.
  • You may donate your facility at no cost to taxpayers, or you may be compensated $100 per voting day for the use of your site.
  • We strive to use places that are accessible to all people, including those with specific needs. If you are not sure about vote center-accessibility for your site, we will send a survey team for evaluation.
  • Citizens like voting in their neighborhood. You are providing a valuable service to your neighbors by offering a convenient place to vote.
  • We will provide all the staff, booths, voting equipment, and other supplies needed to operate the vote center.
  • You may also be interested in being a poll worker.

There are minimum requirements. We need:

  • A room that is at least 30-feet x 30-feet in size.
  • Access to the site from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. three days prior to Election Day. In some cases, we may need access ten days prior to Election Day.
    • Voting hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on days prior to Election Day.
  • Access to the site from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Election Day.
    • Voting hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
  • Access to the site before and after voting days for poll worker set-up and break down.
  • Access to restrooms for poll workers.
  • Access to multiple electrical outlets for voting equipment.
  • Appropriate interior lighting to accommodate worker and voter needs.
  • Appropriate exterior lighting to accommodate safe travels to and from the vote center.
  • If the site is within a gated area, the gates must remain open during voting hours.
  • Although not required, if you are able to, please provide tables and chairs.
  • Ability to secure/lock room where voting equipment is set up and stored during non-voting hours.

There are some restrictions:

  • The vote center may not be connected to any place that offers alcoholic drinks during the hours the vote center is open.
  • During all four or eleven days of voting, no one may do any campaigning within 100 feet of the vote center.

You may also fill out an application to offer your home or facility as a voting location.

You may also be a poll worker.
